What My Son (17 Months) Got For Christmas

I’ve gotten so many messages asking what my son, Milo (17 months) got for Christmas this year so I thought I would throw together a blog post with photos, links & share! We are mostly a montessori style toy family ( we love Lovevery!) but his big gift this year is the opposite of that… & it’s a funny story which I’ll share in the post! Hope you find the post helpful! As you scroll, just click the photo and it will take you to the link for the item 🙂

Although this was Milo’s second Christmas, it still had all the excitement of the first! Mostly because he was a bit more aware of what was going on, and I know that that will just keeping getting better & more magical over the next couple of years. And I can’t wait :0)

As far as toys for him, we have a pretty good idea of what he likes to play with now. He LOVES books, loves puzzles, loves stacking toys, loves rolling things like balls, and of course LOVES his Lovevery toys. I actually set aside a few toys from his latest subscription shipment that were a bit more advanced and saved them for this Christmas (he’ll never know! lol). But he also got a couple of the more advanced Lovevery x Target toys that I set aside for Christmas as well!

Milo did get more than I’m sharing today, mostly just sharing what I can still link and the things we specifically asked for or bought ourselves! Here is an overview of the toys:

1. Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Servin' Up Fun Food Truck

Soooo truth be told, this Fisher-Price dog DRIVES ME INSANE! He’s cute and all but something about his voice… sends me. BUT we got this food truck for FREEEEEEEEE! When Milo was still a newborn, we ordered some organizing cubbies for his closet from Target and they somehow sent this instead. We contacted them that they sent the complete wrong item (lol) and they just said to keep it and they’d send out the correct item! It was for 18+ months so we stashed it away in the garage for this Christmas and luckily we didn’t forget about it!

Milo doesn’t quite understand the concept of it yet, but he sure does enjoy a play kitchen. Mostly, throwing the food around 😜😅 But that’s okay! I am excited for him to understand the concept someday and he can serve me from his food truck, that will just melt my heart so much.

Since is loving the play kitchen element (he also loves the one that my niece has), I think maybe in 6 months for his birthday we will get him a proper play kitchen with some fun velcro food and pass this food truck on, but for now we are so grateful we got it for free & Milo is absolutely loving it!

2. Melissa & Doug K's Kids Bowling Friends Play Set

How cute are these little bowling pins!!! I noticed that Milo really enjoyed rolling balls, or anything he could roll for that matter, and even better if it would roll into something else and knocked it down. SO when I saw this Melissa & Doug Bowling play set I bought it immediately. The quality is fantastic, the characters are so cute and I love all of the fun colors. & Even more cuteness, when Milo is playing with them he gives each of the little animals a kiss 😍 It is so cute!

3. Melissa & Doug Pounding Bench Wooden Toy with Mallet

The Melissa & Doug toys always catch my eye in the toy aisle at Target, so I got a few of the ones that were age appropriate for Milo. This is a super cute kind of whack-a-mole style wooden toy complete with mallet, and I love that the little guys have such cute faces. This toy was a bit of a gamble, as I was not sure if Milo would take to hitting me with it…. but so far so good 😂 But I am VERY impressed with the quality of Melissa & Doug so far, and there are quite a few toys for older ages that I can’t wait to get! Especially that ice cream parlor set!!!

4. Lovevery x Target Drip Drop Cups

So as mentioned previously, we get the Lovevery play kits every few months and they are by far Milo’s favorite toys. BUT if you don’t want to sign up for the Lovevery subscription, the great news is that they have a line of toys at Target!! He already has a similar set from one of the play kits, but this particular set sold at Target has even more pieces and I knew he would love it. You can stack them on top of each other (as pictured), you can stack them inside each other (which makes them incredible to store), AND they have holes in the bottom of them if you wanted to play with them in the bath tub! And as always, I love the fun colors. A great way to help learn the colors too! A truly great & versatile toy.

5. Lovevery x Target Post & Play Peg People

More from the Lovevery x Target line are these little peg people! They are so cute!!!! These are technically for 19+ months, so they will act as shelf decor for the next couple months but I still wanted to gift them to him for Christmas. He loves puzzles of any kind, and I think he will really enjoy these. Plus, I love that they also will help with learning colors and matching! I love toys that grow with the kids and offer multiple benefits.

6. Lovevery x Target Chloe & Her Car Toy

Similar to the peg people, but Chloe has her own car!!! & she has a face lol. But as stated Milo loves any kind of puzzle, but he also loves cars. Anything with wheels he can push and say “vroom vroom” so this was perfect for him!

7. Spike The Fine Motor Dinosaur

This is a cute little montessori style toy dinosaur that I saw on Amazon! Normally I steer clear of toys that have a bunch of little pieces, but his back opens up as a place to store all the little spikes for easy cleanup! And again, serves multiple purposes as a toy. Works on his fine motor skills by putting the spikes in and out, the spikes are different colors so you can practice learning the colors, and also the holes on his back are numbered so you can practice learning the numbers! Cute, functional & affordable!

8. Board Books

Milo is OBSESSED with books, so I definitely wanted to get a few for him for Christmas!

  1. Never Touch A Polar Bear: If you’re not familiar with the “Never Touch A…” books, they have very fun textures to touch on each page. Milo had the Never Touch A Spider version for Halloween and he loved it so when I saw this one at TJ Maxx I knew I needed to grab it for Christmas!
  2. Dino-Mite Tag: I found this ADORABLE lift-a-flap book on sale for $3 at Tj Maxx, but this book is so cute that I would say it’s worth the full price on Amazon (around $8). Milo’s very favorite books are lift-a-flap ones so this was perfect to add to our collection, and it was small enough to slip into his stocking!
  3.  You’re My Little Cuddle Bug: Milo got the normal version of this book for his birthday, and he loved it so much that we also scooped up the Halloween & Christmas versions. And so for Christmas, I decided to get him the Valentine’s Day edition! They are very sweet books. I may or may not have teared up the first time reading some of the pages…

9. Jellycat Pink Heart Plush Toy

I’m more obsessed with the Jellycat stuffed animals than Milo is at this point, but when it comes to plushies these ones are ELITE. So cute, so soft and did I say… so cute. I like to get him seasonal ones, he got a bunny for Easter, a bat for Halloween and a candy cane for Christmas. So I thought I’d pop this Valentine’s Day one at the top of his stocking! He loved playing with it on Christmas morning, he’s very drawn to the colors pink and orange so I knew he would love it. But I will DEFINITELY be adding this to his shelf decor for Valentine’s Day 🙂

10. Tucker + Tate Kid's Fitted Two-Piece Rainbow Stripes Pajamas

I didn’t get him too many clothes because a. that’s boring, and b. he has PLENTY of clothes for the size he’s currently in. But I did find these cute big boy rainbow stripe pajamas on sale at Nordstrom so I threw those in his stocking! I usually stick to Old Navy & Carter’s for Milo’s clothes, but if I ever find myself in a Nordstrom I always check out the sale section for Tucker + Tate stuff because they have really cute prints! These are also currently on sale!! Grab em’ while you can.

11. UTEX Kids Wooden Table & Chair Set

And lastly, I wanted a little table for Milo to do his puzzles on and found this adorable on on Amazon! I loved the round style of the table, and even cuter the little bear ears on the chairs! So far he absolutely loves to sit in it. We’re not sure if it will go in his room or downstairs yet, but either way it will get used! And it comes in a few different colors, we went for the Mint green color.

& that’s what we got Milo for Christmas! Thank you for scrolling along and I hope you found this helpful! 💕
